CITB Site Supervisor’s Safety Training Scheme Refresher (SSSTS-R)

Objectives:

The course aims to ensure that all those given supervisory responsibilities continue to understand their identified duties and contribution to the safety in the workplace.

Who Should Attend?

This one-day refresher course is for delegates who have previously passed the two-day Site supervision safety training scheme (SSSTS) course and can provide proof of successful attendance.

Course Content:

This course aims to bring health and safety knowledge up-to-date, as well as giving a thorough overview of the legislative changes and their impact in the workplace. The course includes a wide range of topics which have been affected by changes to procedures, and builds upon the material in the original course.

Knowledge of recent developments in construction, legislation and health and safety, welfare and environmental issues will be explored. Measures that will assist the practical implementation of responsibilities established by new legislation and working practices will be identified during the course.

The course will help site supervisors to:

• supervise health and safety on site in accordance with current legal provisions and within the context of their role
• develop an understanding of responsibility and accountability for site health, safety and welfare of workers on site
• recognise that a safe site is efficient, economical, productive and environmentally friendly.

Outcomes:

Delegates will be continuously assessed via individual and group exercise, plus a multiple-choice test. 100% attendance is required for the final test. Successful delegates will be issued with a certificate valid for 5 years, after which another Refresher course may be undertaken.

The course is endorsed by the United Kingdom Group (UKCG) as the standard training for all supervisors working on UKCG sites.

This Site Supervisor’s Safety Training Scheme Refresher is listed in the Construction Training Directory. Delegates’ achievements will be listed on the Construction Training Register.

Delegate Preparation:

The refresher course is only for delegates who have previously passed the two-day Site supervision safety training scheme (SSSTS) course and can provide proof of successful attendance.

Delegates must  complete this refresher before the certificate expires otherwise will need to re-take the full 2-day course. Delegates must renew the qualification every five years by attending the SSSTS Refresher course.

Delegates must have a good understanding of spoken and written English.

Delegates must provide valid ID on the first day of the course, such as a passport or driving license.
